Sad & Happy Christmas 2008

I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas!

We had tons of snow this year! You have already seen a picture of Larry shoveling with his Kubota-his Christmas gift! 13 inches on the ground for Christmas.

Our Christmas, at Mommy's was a little different for us this year. My Mother was very upset Christmas Eve. She got very confused and didn't know anyone. She really got mad thinking we were throwing some kind of a party in her house. She yelled and cried and really was scared, mostly, we realized afterward. I went in her room and she was laying in her bed covered up over her head with the blankets and very upset. She thought that there were a bunch of strangers having a party in her house. She told Linda "if you want to have a party you have it at your house not up here in my house" She really didn't know it was only her family. It was only us three girls, our husbands and our kids and her 3 great-grandchildren. There wasn't one stranger there, but she really didn't know that at all. After we hurried up and got everyone out of the house and cleaned it back up to look "what to her is normal" she finally came out of her bedroom still screaming at my sister, Judy and Me (we were the only ones still upstairs at the time finishing up) and looked through all her cabinets and drawers yelling and screaming that "no one better have stolen any of my dishes or stuff" " I gonna check my china closet too"

Of course we all left crying and upset and left her alone to calm down. there was just no soothing her. I called my sister, Linda about an hour after I got home and asked her how it was going, she said Mommy went to bed. The only good thing was that on Christmas Day she forgot all about it. Didn't even remember all those "strangers" were there. Kind of a Godsend for her because she was so very frightened, but torture for us. This Alzheimer is an awful thing! just awful.

Christmas Day, Larry got sick - it was coming out from the North and the South. He is still feeling bad today and still having "issues". No one else seems to be sick -yet- and we hope it stays that way.

Shawn and Shelva and our little Symeon (10 1/2 months) went home Christmas Day. They are expecting another baby in May so we are excited about adding to our brood!

Michael and his wife Traci and their two kids, Austin and Clover have moved into our two story side of our house and we have "Seniorized" the ranch side of the house for us. A little bit of downsizing for us, but we love it. We have a Master bedroom, guest bedroom and a laundry room (on the living space floor! hooray!). We ripped out all the dark paneling from the 70's that ran throughout the house. Had all the hardwood floors refinished. We remodeled the kitchen and put in an Island and turned the small porch off the kitchen into a beautiful dinnette. It is a perfect ! Larry has built me an incredible sewing /craft room in about 1/2 of the basement and has his woodworking shop in the other half (marriage saving space...haha) Both of our families have been really blessed by this decision.

We all had a really wonderful Christmas here at our home. Our daughter and daughter-in-law are acting more like sisters everyday, which is really nice, and Michael gets along great with Shelva's husband, Shawn. We are truly blessed to have our children and precious little grandbabies around us during the holidays for some of the time. Of course, we did not spoil our Grandchildren during this time either I want you to know! Believe that and I have some Ocean Front Property in Arizona to sell you! haha

Well, just keep us in your prayers and we'll do the same for you and yours.

Happiness and blessings in the New Year 2009!
Can you believe it? Where does the time go?????

Blessings at Christmas

Our family wants to wish Christ's Blessings on you and yours, this Christmas, in the year of Our Lord, 2008, and all the days of your lives.

Remember-The Reason for the Season! Christmas is the celebration of the keeping of a promise...a saving promise.

So, we pray God grant you the light in Christmas, which is faith; the warmth of Christmas, which is love,..the ALL of Christmas, which is Christ.

Winter in Connecticut USA

We are having some terrible weather here in Northeastern Connecticut, but I love looking out the windows at the birds and my grandkids playing outside. They can't get enough of the snow. Larry bought himself a Kubota for Christmas and of course he had to go out and play (oops! I mean do some serious work) plowing up the white stuff. The grandkids are just loving the forts their Papaw is making for them. We had about 13 inches all together and now we are having some sleet on top of that. Brrr...cold too!

A Pet! Hooray!

Oma and Papaw said that every boy should have a pet so they got me a puppy

But then I got to thinking...hmmm...this is really exciting but as you can tell by the puzzled look on my face...how am I ever going to get this dog back to PA in my Mom and Dad's Subaru????

Of course, I could probably ride him back if
I could just get him to stand up for me!

Playing and Fun

Whatcha' lookin' at? huh?

I am really not ready for toilet training...this seems a little high up for me...What do you think?

They just let me do anything I want at Oma's. Playing in the bathroom is really a lot of fun...here just check it out.

The Truth has set me free!

I have to say I am a little confused. I won't be old enough to vote in the next election, but, I will be old enough to state my opinion by then! If Clover has anything to do with it, I will be well informed on the political arena as well

Ahh Ha! A lightbulb moment! I get it! I get it!

Republicans in 2012!

The truth has set me free!

Two Clowns

First let me tell you that my Mom and Dad went to San Francisco without me. As if that wasn't bad enough, they left me with these two clowns to take care of me.....

Of course, I did have my Papaw, Uncle Michael, and my two cousins, Austin and Clover to help keep them in line. ( yeah! right! like anyone could keep these two clowns in line!)

Symeon's story

Well since this is my first post I suppose it should be about something I love. I LOVE my grandbabies-all three of them-oh and we are so excited because we have a 4th on the way come this May sometime! Now for those of you who don't know, Austin (8) & Clover (7) belong to our Son, Michael and his wife, Traci. Symeon (9 Months) belongs to our Daughter, Shelva Jean and her husband, Shawn Delp. Anyway we had the opportunity to watch our little Symeon Jonah for a few days while Shelva and Shawn flew out to San Francisco for a long needed short vacation.
So here is Symeon's journey at our house along with some pictures that tell the whole story. Now some of the things he tells you might be stretching the story some, but he has some Leep blood and so that is to be expected, because we are known for our storytelling talents. Mr. Leep (that's Papaw) will tell you the truth 5 or 6 different ways before he would lie to you! When Shawn first entered our family, he asked Shelva "does everyone in your family lie?" ~ poor Shelva she had to confess, yes. So enjoy the next story....given by a new learner in the art of storytelling, Symeon.
.

What am I thinking?

As if I haven't enough "cyber space stress" in my life! What am I thinking?? Trying to do a blog? Who'd a thought this 56 year old Oma (German for Grandmother) would ever even consider having a blog? I barely know what a blog is for that matter. So if all of you are willing to bear with me while I learn, play, and mess this thing up, I will give it my best effort. I am sure you will be laughing at my attempts, but then the world does need more smiles, so they're on me!
